HomeAid welcomed Patrick Mayhan, vice president of purchasing for Westin Homes, as the 2019 HomeAid Houston president. Mayhan has been a HomeAid board member for six years.

An active member of the GHBA for several years, Mayhan currently serves on the Greater Houston Builders Association (GHBA), Board of Directors, as well as serving on the Bay Area Builders Association (BABA) as board president for three years. Mayhan is also a trustee with HOME-PAC, the political action committee formed through the GHBA.

“I am both humbled and excited to take on the role of HomeAid Houston board president for 2019,” said Mayhan. “We are launching into 2019 with several new construction projects on the docket that will help provide a stable environment for men, women, children, families and veterans who are facing crisis situations. These projects will help HomeAid surpass our 50 projects milestone we reached in 2018.”

HomeAid is already well underway partnering with David Weekley Homes and Gracewood, on the construction of the first four of eight duplexes that are part of the Next Step Project at the Gracewood campus. Gracewood, a Children at Heart Ministry, offers a home-like environment where family well-being is restored while moms work toward specific, individual goals. The agency can currently serve up to 15 single mothers and their children and with the Next Step Project expansion, Gracewood will be able to serve up to 31 families. These new duplexes will offer housing for mothers who need additional time to complete education or certification programs.

A second project that will begin construction by the end of the first quarter is a Day Center called “Promise House” for Family Promise of Lake Houston. HomeAid Houston and builder captain First America Homes, a Signorelli Company, are partnering to build this center that will provide counseling and admin offices, locker rooms, bath facilities, a family room, kitchen, a child’s playroom and a dining room and library. Promise House is a 4,224-square-foot plan that will replace the existing FPLH offices and will double its current capacity.

“HomeAid is looking forward to working with Patrick Mayhan as we begin a new year of construction projects that serve those working toward a brighter future,” said Carl Salazar, executive director of HomeAid. “His professionalism and commitment to HomeAid and the homeless of Houston are inspiring qualities that resonate with the board, the staff and the volunteers.”
