Gardening Tips for Beginners

Spring has sprung and you’re ready plant beautiful flowers in your front yard but don’t know where to start. Don’t let gardening stress you out. Follow these 3 simple easy steps to start your flower garden!

  1. Research Plants
Flowers and plants have different characteristics that will help it thrive - amounts of sunlight, water, type of soil, and outside temperature. It is always best to research what type of plants/flowers thrive the best in your area. When purchasing plants, you can always check the tag to make sure that the flower/plant aligns with where you plan to put it.

  2. Plan the flower bed
Once you determine the location of where you plan on planting the flowers, you should take into consideration the size of the area, how much sunlight the area gets, and the type of plants you plan to purchase so you can arrange them according to height, color and spacing

  3. Planting
Refer to the plant tags for spacing as some plants will grow larger than others. Use good quality garden soil as you plant. A top dressing of mulch helps the new plants retain moisture and keep roots to cool. Be sure to water your plants right after you plant them as this will give them the best opportunity to thrive!
