When you build a new home with First America Homes, one of
the most exciting steps in the process is your visit to the Design
Center. It’s where your vision comes to life with the help of a
professional designer who guides you every step of the way.
We’re thrilled to introduce Michelle
Ramos, one of our talented Design Gallery Consultants, who helps
homebuyers personalize their homes with confidence and creativity. Michelle
shared what you can expect during your design appointment and how she makes the
process stress-free and enjoyable.
A Look Inside the Design Gallery Experience
A typical Design Center appointment lasts about three hours
— two hours to make selections and one hour to review, finalize and sign off.
“We want buyers to have plenty of time to explore their options, ask questions
and feel good about their choices,” says Michelle.
When you arrive, you’ll be greeted by a designer who walks
you through what to expect. You’ll review a checklist of selections, browse
beautiful material samples and see photos and printouts that help you visualize
your home’s finished look.
Once you’ve made your selections, your designer will prepare
a detailed summary that includes prices, upgrades and your deposit total.
You’ll have time to review everything, make any final adjustments and sign off
on your personalized home design.
Keeping the Process Simple and Stress-Free
During the design consultation, Michelle takes the time to
understand each buyer’s taste whether it’s modern, traditional or something in
between. “I like to see what they naturally gravitate toward,” she says. “Some
buyers bring in inspiration photos and that really helps me tailor their
selections to match their vision.”
Selecting from so many options for a new home can feel
overwhelming at first, but the professional designers at the Design Center are
there to make it enjoyable. “If a buyer is struggling with a decision, I’ll
skip ahead and come back later,” Michelle says. “Starting with smaller, easier
choices helps build confidence for the bigger ones.”
Designers also help narrow down selections to fit your style and preferences. “If a buyer doesn’t like gray flooring, we can remove those options right away,” she explains. “That helps streamline the process and keeps it fun instead of stressful.”

Michelle’s top tip for buyers: Come Prepared! “Take a look
at First America Homes’ website
or tour our model homes to get ideas,” she says. “Know your community’s maximum
upgrade budget and share your design preferences and budget with your designer
up front. The more prepared you are, the smoother and more productive your
appointment will be.”
Also, be sure you understand your deposit information and
carefully read through all the information sent by the Design Center and your
community Sales Consultant. Having a good understanding of the policies will
help you avoid any surprises.
What Makes the Design Process Special?
For Michelle, the most rewarding part is seeing buyers light
up as they become part of the process and make their home their own. “A lot of
buyers take pride in being part of selecting the features that will go into
their home,” she says. “It’s exciting to help them create something that’s
truly theirs.”
When buyers leave their appointment, Michelle hopes they
feel relieved, confident and excited, ready to picture themselves in their new
home.
Michelle’s Journey as a Designer
Michelle’s love for home design started early. “My mom had
incredible design taste,” she recalls. “When I was a teenager, she’d let me
redesign my room every few years. We’d watch HGTV and tour model homes together
and that’s where it all started.”
Today, she channels that same passion into helping families
personalize their homes. “I love seeing it all come together and helping buyers
feel proud of their choices and excited about the home they’re creating.”
